When you think of fall, you probably think of slouchy sweaters, cozy boots, comfy leggings, and of course, plaid. Clearly, fall is all about comfort, warmth, and all things cozy, so what does this mean for your date night outfits? All of these fall outfit components sound much more well suited for spending a night curled up on the couch, rather than out on the town. So, what’s a girl to do when she wants to put together an outfit that is traditionally autumnal but still also has a little element of sex appeal? Because hello, of course, you want to bring the heat for your date night. Don’t worry, as usual, we’ve got your back.
Here are 4 tips to help you easily come up with date night outfits during the fall season. Plus we’re sending all the outfit inspiration your way with these fall date night outfit pairings. Which is your favorite?
1) Over the knee and thigh-high boots always win
In pretty much all cases, an over the knee or thigh high boot will instantly take your look from average to sexy. No questions asked. You can even wear something as simple as a comfortable knit sweater and black leggings, and once you throw that boot into the mix, your outfit becomes so much more date night appropriate. We can all agree there, right?
Take the outfit from above, for example: really all we have here is a pair of white jeans with a slouchy sweater. The outfit itself really doesn’t make much of an impact, but once you put those boots on, the look instantly gets a boost of both that autumnal vibe you’re looking for, with a dash of date night flair.
Yup, just goes to show the power of a great pair of shoes.
2) Save the oversized sweaters for the couch
Don’t be mistaken, we’re most definitely all about the cozy sweater for fall. Really, who isn’t? But today we just have to call it like we see it: your favorite comfort pieces are sometimes just best left for nights spent lounging.
For date night, try and stick with the knit tops that don’t make you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of fabric.
Slouchy sweaters that have a loose fit? Sure. But that hugely oversized sweater that you’re always reaching for? Save it.

Take the outfit from above, for example. The top still has the comfortable slouchy look that is perfect for fall, but there’s clearly a figure underneath that sweater. Oftentimes when wearing our oversized knits, it tends to make us look like we’re hiding. Don’t hide; you’re meant to be the star of the show on date night!
3) Show a little skin
Okay, okay, hold your horses, we’re most definitely not suggesting stepping outside on a chilly fall evening baring it all. Nope, we’re not crazy, and we know you aren’t either. But we also know that when it comes to dressing for date night on a fall evening, you’ll feel much more confident when you highlight the parts of your body that you absolutely love. Because we promise, there’s nothing more attractive than a woman who feels confident with her body.

With all of these very fall-esque fashion options, you can’t go wrong for date night. Plus, like we said, when you highlight the things that you love about yourself, it’s much more likely that you shine brightly while out on your date.
4) Keep it simple and classic
This little tip, of course, depends on a great deal on your personal style. For some, loud and bold dressing is just up their alley, which is totally cool. However, as a general tip to keep in mind, you’ll likely find date night to be easier when you keep your outfit classic and minimal.
Well, sometimes with fall dressing, there’s a tendency to over accessorize. It’s easy enough to do. Fall fashion basically encourages it: a wool hat here, a big blanket scarf there, dark lipstick shades everywhere.
When you keep it simple, there’s much less to worry about while on date night. Over-accessorizing can be exhausting. Trying to mix and match pieces in your wardrobe so that they work together is sometimes just too much. Not to mention, a hat gives you hat hair, food might drop into your scarf, and dark lipstick is just not ideal for that end of the night kiss you’re waiting for.

Pick one or two accessories that you really love. Perhaps a piece of jewelry, or a standout fall jacket? Whatever it is, make sure you love it and it speaks to your style.
We’ve said it multiple times already, but we’ll say it again: when you dress in a way that you feel comfortable in, your confidence will soar, making date night much more enjoyable for both you and your partner.
And there you have it: some simple tips and outfit inspirations to keep in mind next time you’re getting ready for a date night during the fall season.
What do you think? Will you incorporate any of these tips into your process? Which fall date night look was your favorite? We’d love to hear from you!
